Celebrate Martinstag with one of our favorite German traditions! Join us for our annual Laternenumzug as students carry their handmade lanterns through the school, filling the hallways with light and traditional St. Martin songs.

About the event
Each November, children and families across Germany celebrate Martinstag (St. Martin’s Day) with lanterns, songs, and community. The tradition honors St. Martin of Tours, who is remembered for an act of generosity: sharing half of his cloak with a man in need. Today, Martinstag is a beloved children’s celebration centered on kindness, sharing, and bringing light to others.
Our students will join in this special tradition with a Laternenumzug, carrying lanterns they’ve made themselves and singing traditional Martinstag songs they’ve learned in class as they make their way through the school.
The lantern walk begins at 10:30 AM. Come cheer on our students and watch them light up the halls! 🏮✨
