Get Ready for Fasching at the German Saturday School of Boston!
Join us this winter as the German Saturday School of Boston (GSSB) celebrates Fasching — Germany’s joyful, colorful carnival season filled with costumes, music, and playful traditions. Known as Fastnacht, Fasching, or Karneval depending on the region, this celebration has deep roots in German-speaking countries and is connected to carnival traditions around the world, from Mardi Gras in the U.S. to Carnival in Brazil and Venice.
Across Germany, Fasching season officially begins on November 11 at 11:11 a.m., but the biggest celebrations typically take place in the weeks leading up to Lent. Children dress up, communities gather for parades, and schools host festive parties filled with laughter, treats, and imaginative costumes.
At GSSB, our Fasching celebration brings this beloved tradition to life. Students are invited to come dressed in their favorite costumes, from classic characters to creative, homemade inventions. The morning will…
